our story
Like all good things, Hobart Brewing Co started as a conversation over a pint.
The year was 2014. The pint drinkers were Brendan and Scott. The conversation was to create a independently owned beer that locals would love to drink.
When Scott realised he couldn’t talk Brendan out of the idea (his words, not mine) HBC’s fate was sealed. Beer concepts were drawn up, pilot batches brewed and our original beer, Harbour Master, was brought into the world.
In 2015 we made our home in the Red Shed on the Hobart Waterfront. Right next to the old IXL jam factory, sandwiched between the water and the city.
We made more beer, fitting even more tanks in every space we can find in our humble shed.
Our taproom has become a regular haunt for locals on the Hobart waterfront, and our cans can be found in just about every bottle-shop around Tassie.
We’re super proud of the journey our beer has taken and we pride ourselves on continuing to brew a core range you can trust and limited releases you can trust to intrigue. Find us at your local or come on down the brewery.
We’d love to have a pint with you.
