our story
Hobart Brewing Co has always been about one thing: brewing independent beer that locals love to drink.
It started in 2014 with a pint, a big idea and a few pilot batches. Our first beer, Harbour Master, was the result, and we’ve been brewing for the people of Tassie ever since.
In 2015 we made our home in the Red Shed on the Hobart waterfront, wedged between the water and the city. For more than a decade we squeezed tanks into every corner of that humble shed, and the taproom became a regular haunt for locals, visitors and everyone in between.
In 2026 we said goodbye to the Red Shed as Macquarie Point made way for what’s next. We poured our last pints there on a wet, rowdy, very Hobart kind of night, then packed up the tanks and headed up the hill.
Now you’ll find us in North Hobart. It’s a cosy community focused space with a new bar and great vibes, the same beer and the same crew. If you knew the Red Shed, it should feel like home pretty quickly.
Our cans are still in just about every bottle-shop around Tassie. We’re still brewing a core range you can trust, plus limited releases worth getting curious about. Find us at your local, or come up to North Hobart and see the new place.
